# Making Clean Permalinks Without Writing a Script

A good URL slug is short, readable and consistent, but keeping hundreds of slugs consistent across a site is harder than it looks. Slug Generator is a free web tool that converts article titles, product names and headings into clean URL slugs as you type. ## How to generate slugs step by step

1. Open [open Slug Generator (transliteration)](https://sluggenerator.dev/) in a desktop or mobile browser; there is no account and nothing to install.
2. Paste your titles, one per line (up to 1,000 lines). Slugs appear as you type.
3. Pick a separator: hyphen, underscore, dot or none, and set the lowercase toggle.
4. Remove SEO stop words using the editable list (Spanish, French and German presets are included).
5. Cap each slug by maximum words or characters; truncation respects word boundaries.
6. Export the results as CSV or JSON, or copy a matching slugify() snippet.

## Key capabilities
